Udupi: Community health centre, Brahmavara in association with World Diabetes Foundation, School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University, District Health and Welfare Office, Non-communicable disease Udupi wing, Department of AYUSH and Kasturba hospital, Manipal organised free camps for foot, eye assessment and foot care and diet counselling and patient education for people living with diabetes on 28/10/2016 at CHC Brahmavara. 70 people living with diabetes utilised the services. 31 people were referred for further assessment and treatment. Camp offered foot assessment, eye assessment, oral assessment, diet, and foot care and exercise education. Cholesterol test, Random Blood Sugar test and Body Index Analysis were also performed.
Dr G Arun Maiya, Principal Investigator and Professor, WDF Project, Manipal University, Dr Neetha Kir, Department of Ophthalmology, Kasturba Hospital, Dr. Mahesh Aithal, Administrative Medical Officer, Dr Mahabala, Medical Officer, Dr Eric Fernandez, Non-communicable disease clinic, Dr Deepa Kamath, Dentist, Dr Gayatri, AYUSH Medical Officer Brahmavara, staff of non-communicable disease clinic were present on the occasion.
Team members of WDF Project, Department of Ophthalmology, Department of Diet and Nutrition rendered services. Dr Gayathri spoke on importance on Ayurveda and integration of Ayurveda on the occasion of national Ayurveda day. Mr. Manjunath, senior T.B supervisor, DOTS centre, Brahmavara was the Master of ceremony.
