Mangaluru: Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated in the city on October 2, Sunday on behalf of the Bharath Seva Dal, Information and Publicity Department and Department of Public Instructions. Mangaluru Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar paid tributes to the Mahatma by garlanding his statue near the Town Hall.

Veteran freedom fighter K P Madan Master was felicitated on the occasion.

District Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, Additional DC Kumar, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, MCC Commissioner Mohammad Nazir, Seva Dal District President Basheer K and others were present.
