Fruitful ‘Chintan-Mantan’ on Konkani Language Plan

Mangaluru: Mandd Sobhann, in association with ‘Jagotik Konknni Songhotton’ (JKS) had convened a ‘Chintan-Mantan’ session regarding the Konkani Language Plan, called – ATTO’V – on Mon., Apr. 10, 2017, at 5.30 p.m., at Kalaangann, Mangalore; in the presence of Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu, the Vice President of JKS.

Shri Eric Ozario, Secretary General of JKS, presented the Konkani Language Plan and informed the gathering about the process of its preparation, on the basis of 2 years of work, after conducting a Global Survey and also convening 2 Global Conclaves.

This was followed by an intellectual discussion on the Konkani Language Plan. Dr. Austin opined that if the Konkani Language Plan is implemented by every Konkani, it could ensure a bright future for Konkani. He also said that regional meetings should be organised for the propagation of the Konkani Language Plan. The power of the internet and social networking platforms could also help in registering the subject in the minds of Konkanis spread around the world, he said.

On the occasion, Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu was felicitated by Mandd Sobhann and JKS. Shri Roy Castelino – Chairman, Konkani Museum & Former President – Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy did the honours. Shri Eric Ozario and Shri Louis J. Pinto – President, Mandd Sobhann & Treasurer, JKS, were present on the dais.

45 Konkani enthusiasts participated in the Chintan-Mantan, which was followed by dinner. Shri Romans Lobo, Executive Committee Member of Mandd Sobhann emceed the programme.
