Ganesha Chaturthi celebrated in grand way

Mangaluru: Sri Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour across the coastal districts on  Thursday. Lord Ganesha is worshipped with great devotion at various places in Mangalore. Large number of devotees are visiting the Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathi Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha in Mangaluru.

Idols of Lord Ganesha are being installed by various Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithis in Mangalore, while several devout Hindus also installed Ganesha idols at home and worship them. The idols worshipped at residences are immersed in wells or lakes later in the night.

The police have maintained tight security to ensure peace during Ganeshotsava celebrations which will continue for upto a week.
