Udupi: We have seen Ganesh idols made of many items. But in Udupi, we are seeing a new Ganesha idol. Three artists of the Manipal Sand Heart Team created a huge idol of Lord Ganesha using biscuits in view of Ganesh Chaturti festival. The artists are Srinath Manipal, Ravi Hirebettu and Venki Palimar. They created a nine-foot-high, five-foot-wide idol using biscuits of various sizes, designs and products.

Srinath, who headed the team, said they used 15 kg of biscuits and eco-friendly cardboard to build the idol. They took three days to complete it,.

These artists have earlier made attractive idols of Ganesh using paper cups, baskets, handmade paper, drawing sheets, bamboo materials, arecanut leaves, among other things. The idol is on display at a two-wheeler showroom on Vidyasamudra Road. Visitors can catch a glimpse from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a week.
