Goverment to introduce sports policy soon

Udupi: Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, Pramod Madhwaraj, said that the State government would try to formulate a sports policy.


Speaking after inaugurating six class rooms constructed under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan at Volakadu Government Composite High School here, Minister Madhwaraj said, "It is necessary to provide educational benefits to students who are achievers in sports. I would try to extend the National Service Scheme, which was presently there in colleges, to high school levels."

Nirmala, headmistress of the school, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks. Rooparekha, teacher, proposed the vote of thanks. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, President of Udupi City Muncipal Council, Nalini Rao, President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Geeta Ravi Shet, municipal councillor, Indu Ramananda Bhat, Vice President of School Development and Management Committee, were present.
