Puttur: Women Empowerment Cell of St Philomena Pre-University College Puttur organized a guest lecture on ‘Bone Health among Women’ on August 20, 2016 in conference hall. Dr. Praveen Kumar Rai, Orthopedic Surgeon, Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, England was the resource person. In his presentation, he said, ‘Calcium and Vitamin D play a crucial role in determining bone health of an individual. The lifestyles and food preferences of the people results in low level of calcium intake which again causes adverse influence on bone health. Women start with lower bone density than their male peers and lose bone mass more quickly as they age, which leads to osteoporosis in some women.’

The Principal Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo delivered his presidential address. Ms. Amitha and Ms. Akshaya performed the prayer. Ms. Shwethal welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sahana proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Venisha compered the programme. The convenor of Women Empowerment Cell Mrs. Sathyalatha Rai coordinated the programme
