Moodbidri: Ravindranath Shanbhag, president Human Rights Protection Foundation of Udupi, said that instead of criticizing at any problem, it is always better to be a part of its solution.

He was speaking on Saturday at guest talk organised by the Humanities Forum of Alva’s college, Moodbidri.

Earning an experience of solving more than 41,000 cases related to human rights violation, he told the students, “Practically implement the knowledge of human rights which they have learnt in academics,” he added and said, “One should be politically conscious, but not politically associate with any party.”

Dr Shanbhag, who has fought many cases and provided justice to thousands of people through the organisation, recounted the difficulties he faced during his past forty years trails.

Akku and Leela, two women of Udupi, who were working for a paltry sum of Rs 15 per month for decades in a government institute, got justice only in 2014 after a legal battle of 16 years. He narrated story of Janaki, who succeed in getting government job in Cherkady, Brahmavar.

Alva’s college Humanities stream dean Sandhya K S, Humanity Forum coordinator Nagraj, Student coordinator Pavithra Tej were present among others.
