Beltangady , June.27: Finally, after three years of the post remaining vacant, the Congress has announced appointment to the post of president of Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee. Harish Kumar Beltangady has been appointed as chief of Dakshina Kannada Congress committee.

An order to this effect has been issued by KPCC President Dr. G.Parameshwara. The post was lying vacant since 2014, after the then President B.Ramanath Rai became MLA and subsequently district in-charge minister Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal had been made the interim president after Rai stepped down from the post. After three years during which there were various speculations on who would be getting the coveted post and repeated postponements of the announcement, the Congress has finally decided to appoint Harish Kumar, with less than one year to go for the crucial state Assembly polls.

Harish Kumar is presently holding the post of president of Beltangady rural block Congress. The KPCC also announced that N.Srinivas Kini will take charge as President of Beltangady rural Congress with immediate effect.
