Heavy rains lash Udupi district

Udupi: Heavy rain lashed Udupi districts. In the last 24 hours, there has been increase in rainfall, which is a good news as city was reeling under draught conditions Udupi district received an average of 65.43 mm rainfall. Two houses at Haladi in Kundapura taluk were damaged as trees fell on them due to the heavy winds.

There was drizzling in the city since morning and there was heavy rain for 45 minutes after 3.30 pm. There was drizzling till 6 pm. There were reports of drizzling and light rain in the rural areas of the district also. Showers are expected to continue for few more days.

There was moderate rainfall in other parts of state as well. The water-level in streams and water bodies has increased. The rain has brightened hopes for the farmers as they have started sowing for the kharif crop.
