Hejamady gram panchayat member attacked by gang with weapons at Haleyangady

Mangaluru: Hejamady gram panchayat member and supervisor at NITK toll gate at Suratkal, Shailesh Kunder was attacked by a gang with weapons at Haleyangady. Shailesh was returning from his work on bike after his night duty. A gang of four, who arrived in a car, stopped him at a petrol pump opposite Billava Samaja Seva Sangha at Haleyangady and attacked him with weapons.

The gang appears to have come with the motive of killing Shailesh as they attacked him on his leg, shoulder and hands. They ran away as Shailesh shouted for help. The locals took Shailesh, who was in pool of blood, to the Mukka hospital. Then he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. His condition is said to be serious.

The gang sped towards Udupi in the car from the spot upon seeing people. Mulky police are investigating.
