ICYM Venur Unit celebrates Golden Jubilee Year

Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Christ King Church, Venur celebrated it's Golden Jubilee on Sunday, 20th January 2019 at Venur with a grandeur. The celebration began with a flag hoisting ceremony at Christ King Church Grounds at 10.00 am. The flag consisting ICYM and Golden Jubilee Logo was hoisted by Nagraj S.E - Sub Inspector, Venur Police Station. Addressing the gathering he said " Youth are the milestones to build a better country. Their ideas, creative minds and developing technology is going to give a wonderful shape to the world in future ". Thereafter, Solar lamp was inaugurated nearby Navachethan School in the memory of Golden Jubilee Celebration of ICYM Venur. The solar street lamp was inaugurated by the parish priest Rev. Fr Stany Rodrigues.

The grand evening started with a procession from Venur town to the Church at 3.30 pm. After the procession, Holy Eucharistic Celebration was held in the presence of Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha - Bishop of Mangalore Diocese. The official ceremony of Golden Jubilee Celebration started at 6.00 pm. Rt Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese inaugurated the ceremony. Harish Poonja - MLA, Belthangady Vidhana Sabha Region, Yuvaspoorthi Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash Dsouza - Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese were the chief guests of the ceremony. Bishop released a souviner in the memory of Golden Jubilee of ICYM Venur Unit and addressed the gathering with the words of appreciation towards the ICYM Youths of Venur unit. Rev. Fr Basil Vas - Director, ICYM Belthangady Deanery, Rev. Fr Anthony Lewis - Parish Priest, St. Francis Xavier Church, Ferar, Rev. Fr Rohan Lobo - Secretary, Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Fr Jaison Monis - Parish Priest, Holy Cross Church, Manjotti, Rev. Fr Benjamin, Muhammad Farooq - Minority Officer, Belthangady Taluk, Jaison Leroy Pereira - President, ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Vivian S Fernandes - President, ICYM Belthangady Deanery were the honorary guests of the ceremony.

ICYM Venur Unit felicitated all the Former Presidents, Coordinators, Directors and Achievers who served ICYM Venur Unit in the past 50 years. Rev. Fr Stany Rodrigues felicitated Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha. A documentary was presented before the audience cherishing the journey and achievements of the unit throughout these years. After the formal programme, Cultural programme was performed by ICYM members and the programme was concluded with a Tulu Drama named Telikeda Barsa by Tenali Team, Karkala through their mesmerizing acting skills.

Arun Crasta - Panchayat, Vice President and President, Golden Jubilee Committee, Ronald Dsouza - Vice President, Steevan Dcuhna - Secretary, Venur Parish Pastoral Council, Anup Pais - Secretary, Golden Jubilee Committee, Denis Sequeira - Treasurer, Golden Jubilee Committee, Sr. Wilma Dsa and Arun Dsouza - Animators, Delson Dsouza - President and Reshma Fernandes - Secretary, ICYM Venur Unit were present in the programme. Arun Crasta welcomed the gathering and Anup Pais conveyed the words of gratitude. Wilson Dsouza, Ronson Tellis and Ninet Moras hosted the event. It was a fun-filled day to all the parishioners of Venur and a day to remember.
