IOB observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2016

Mangaluru: Indian Overseas Bank, regional office, Mangaluru observed ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ from October 31 to November 5 as per the guidelines of Central Vigilance Commission [CVC].

On this occasion IOB, in association with Expert Pre-University College, Valachil campus, organized meeting on November 4 on the theme ‘To promote Integrity and Eradicate Corruption’.

M R Vasudeva, Consultant–Airport Authority of India, in his keynote address said that in India , only small portion of the population is corrupt and majority of the people are not corrupt and not willing to encourage corruption. But they are silent spectators and are also the victims.

He urged the students to be pro-active in eradicating corruption and to develop probity in public life by enhancing their knowledge. He also said that students are powerful instruments in changing the society and explained about what is corruption in detail.

He called upon the student community to enhance the knowledge so that they can be vigilant thereby promoting integrity.

On this occasion, chief regional manager of IOB Mangaluru Regional Office, Senthil Kumar A, explained the various activities/meetings conducted by the bank in implementing the CVC guidelines .

Guru Datta N, vice principal, Sharath Crasta, Physics lecturer of the college, Maxim Thomas Miranda and K Ganesan, chief managers of the bank, Parameshwara Karantha, manager of Kankanady branch were present in the meeting.

About 1300 students and staff of the college took Citizens Integrity Pledge during the programme.

Ratna Kumar, Chief Resident Manager of Expert P U College, welcomed the gathering. P.K.Ravindra Pai conducted the meeting and proposed vote of thanks.
