Illegally stocked sand seized

Udupi: A team of officials led by Kundapur Assistant Commissioner Bhoobalan raided a place near Agasanakere and seized huge quantity of illegally stocked sand.

The seized sand is said to be equal to nearly 180 lorry loads. The sand was stocked to facilitate construction of multi-storied buildings in Kalianpur Santhekatte area and that the sand was extracted for Swarna river.

A case has been registered.

Mangaluru: The city police raided eight different places in three villages near Bajpe and seized 853 lorryloads of sand that was reportedly stocked illegally. The police team raided four places in Badagulipady village. They recovered 177 lorry loads of sand at Survey No. 118/1 P3, followed by 26 loads in Survey No. 118/P2P1, 60 loads in Survey No. 68 and 50 loads in Survey No. 85.

Similarly the police seized 193 loads of sand at Survey No. 56/P5 in Mogaru village and 40 loads in Survey No. 61/2B1 in the same village. The police seized 272 loads from Survey No. 76/1 P2 land in Mooduperar village, followed by 35 loads stocked in Survey No. 78 of the same village.

The value of the seized sand is Rs 35 lakh.
