Inauguration of NSS Annual Special Camp of St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: The inaugural programme of NSS Annual Special Camp of St Philomena College Puttur was held on December 26, 2018 at DKZP Higher Primary School Biliyoor, Bantwal Taluk.

The President of Vidyamatha Foundation and Chief Secretary of Jayakarnataka of Ramanagara District Mr Bhagyesh Rai inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and delivered the inaugural address. He said, ‘National Service Scheme is a national level forum which intends to uphold the motto of social service. It is always free from political elements. The members of this unit can acquire certain special qualities like leadership, discipline, unity and service to the humanity.’

The Principal of the College Prof. Leo Noronha participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘NSS and NCC are the two important national level reputed service organizations which function in educational institutions with high level of discipline and code of conduct. They organize various programmes and play a predominant role in shaping the personality of the students.’

The Correspondent of the College Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto in his presidential address appealed the students to make optimum use of the holidays by serving the humanity in rural areas.

The President of Grama Panchayat of Perne Ms Bharathi, President of SDMC Ms Shanthi and Head Mistress of DKZP Higher Primary School Biliyoor Ms Revathi S expressed their best wishes.

The NSS Programme Officer and Camp Officer Mr Madhusudan N coordinated the programme.

Ms Prajna and team presented the prayer song. The NSS Programme Officer and Camp Officer Ms Shashiprabha B welcomed the gathering. Ms Swathi proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Pooja M K compered the programme.

With the motto of ‘Science and Scientific Temper for the Youth’, this week long camp consists of shramadana, educational and various cultural programmes.
