Udupi: The inauguration of the student council of ShriMadhwaVadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi and the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the student council for the year 2016 –17 were held at the institute on 17 September 2016.
Dr. P. V. Bhandary, Director, Dr. A V Baliga Group of Institutions, Udupi, was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Inaugurating the event Dr. Bhandary addressed the gathering on the topic of “Adolescent Drug Abuse – Awareness and Prevention”. In his speech he explained the ill effects of drugs on the student community and also appealed the students to stay away from the clutches of drug abuse and be a responsible citizen of the county.
Mrs. Raviprabha, Student Welfare Officer, SMVITM introduced the newly elected members of the Student Council and administered the oath of office to them.
Ms. AkhilaRao, newly elected President of the council thanked the students and the management for the trust and confidence reposed in the members of the council and assured to uphold the values and the morals set by the institution.
Dr. ThirumaleshwaraBhat, Principal of SMVITM, during his presidential address, congratulated the newly elected student council and advised them to be responsible to their role in the student council.
Dr. SudharshanRao, HOD, Mechanical Engineering, SMVITM welcomed the gathering, Mr. VikasUdupa compeered the program, Ms. Vasundhara did the invocation and Ms. Ujwala proposed the vote of thanks. Faculties and Students of the college were present during the occasion.
