Intellectual Property Rights – Practices and Management

The departments of Political Science, Economics and Secretarial Practice, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized a webinar on the theme ‘Intellectual Property Rights – Practices and Management’ on July 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. The resource person was Dr. Santhosh Prabhu, Assistant Professor, SDM Law College, Mangalore.

The programme began with a prayer song. Ms. Harsha welcomed the participants and Mrs. Shanthi M. Nazareth, Dean – Arts, introduced the resource person, Dr. Santhosh Prabhu and welcomed him. Mrs. Gayathri B. K., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Political Science, outlined the objectives and provided an overview of the programme.

In his presentation, Dr. Santhosh Prabhu, addressed the participants with the following insights: IPR is a legal right, how to convert an idea into an intellectual property, Purpose of IPR, the components of IPR. He also enlightened the participants on Patents, Trademark, Copyright, - what they mean and what constitutes each of them, the process of registration, the time-frame and success stories.
Mr. Derik Dias, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Economics, St. Agnes college (Autonomous) rendered the vote of thanks. Ms. Harsha compeered the programme.

There were 67 participants from various colleges.
