International Yoga Day celebrated at SPC Puttur

Puttur: Department of Public Instruction, Office of the Block Education Officer Puttur, in collaboration with NCC wing of St Philomena Educational Institutions celebrated Yoga Day on the occasion 4th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2018 in St Philomena High School auditorium.

 

The MLA of Puttur Mr. Sanjeeva Mathandoor inaugurated International Yoga Day celebrations and said, ‘Yoga is a way to learn and understand the spiritual India. It is associated with the culture and heritage of India. It has become a mass movement across the globe in the quest for physical and mental health, which is crucial to the creation of peaceful society.’

The Assistant Commissioner of Puttur Mr. H K Krishnamoorthy participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘Yoga has become one of the unifying forces of the world.’

The President of Puttur Taluk Panchayath Mrs. Bhavani Chidanand delivered presidential address.

The Correspondent of St Philomena Educational institutions Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, Principal of St Philomena PU College Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo and Vice President of Parent Teacher Association of St Philomena High School Dr Vijaya Saraswathi participated as the guests of honour.
Under the guidance of Yoga Teacher Mr. Ramanna Rai, 250 NCC cadets of St Philomena educational institutions have demonstrated yoga asanas on this occasion.

NCC Officers Lt. Johnson David Sequeira, Mr. Peter Naresh Lobo, Mr. Clement Pinto, Mr. Roshan Sequeira, Education coordinator Mr. Kukka M, Physical Education Instructors Mr. Prakash D’Souza and Mr. Rajesh Moolya coordinated the programme. The BEO of Puttur Mrs. Sukanya D S welcomed the gathering. The Head Master of St Philomena High School Mr. Oswald Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. Teacher of St Philomena High School Mr. Rajshekhar compered the programme.
