Mangaluru: Chief whip of legislative council Ivan D Souza said that Congress party has no role to play in Zubair’s murder. He also said that BJP has no moral right to demand minister U T Khader’s resignation over the murder issue.

Addressing media here on Saturday, Ivan D Souza said, "Congress is responsible enough to provide security to the people and we have handled communal issues very effectively. We have taken stringent action against those who have delivered provocative speeches. Murders may occur due to personal or many other reasons. I urge BJP not to politicise murders and give communal colour to any murder as this area is very sensitive and has witnessed several untoward incidents."

"I request home minister Ramalinga Reddy to send a special squad to Mangaluru to trace the drug mafia especially in border areas where the drug is easily available and transported. I also request the government to provide compensation to Zubair’s family,” he said.
