Mangaluru: Chief whip of the ruling party in legislative council, Ivan D'Souza, said that he would be filing a defamation suit in the court, seeking a compensation of Rs 300 crore from BJP backward classes morcha state president, B J Puttaswamy and two others for making false allegation of illegal denotification of land against state chief minister, Siddaramaiah.

D'Souza asserted that neither the chief minister, nor state government, had done anything wrong in this case. He said that the six acres of land in question had been denotified in 1978.

"As it was not utilized for the purpose for which it was meant, as per the orders of the Supreme Court, it was denotified. At the request of the land owner, MLA Vasant Bangera, had requested the chief minister, to take action," he said.

Ivan explained that as it has been alleged that Bengaluru Development Authority has lost Rs 300 crore in the transaction, a compensation of like amount is being demanded.
