Janardhana Poojary condemns property tax hike

Published On : 25 Dec 2016   |  Reported By : Canaranews Network

Mangaluru: Senior Congress Leader B Janardhana Poojary condemned the Congress ruled Mangaluru City Corporation of failing to keep up its promise on Self-Assessment Property Tax.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Poojary said that the MCC has betrayed the trust which the people reposed on it by hiking the property tax by 15 per cent. He also stated that the hike in property tax is an unpardonable offence.

He said that the Chief Minister could have asked for steps to recover pending taxes rather than increasing taxes at a time when people are already feeling the heat of demonetization.
