Justice Vishwanath Shetty from Udupi takes oath as the state’s new Lokayukta

Udupi: Justice Vishwanath Shetty native of Uppur-Udupi takes oath as the state’s new Lokayukta at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru on Saturday.

A native of Uppur in the present Udupi district, Justice Shetty was an expert in land reform cases and has delivered several orders in these matters. He was also chairman of Karnataka legal services cell and headed Karnataka Judiciary Academy during his tenure as a high court judge.

Justice Shetty, 72, had served as a judge of the Karnataka High Court from 1995 to 2006. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G Parameshwara, Law Minister T B Jayachandra and Water Resources Minister M B Patil were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
