Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences holds lamp lighting ceremony for student nurses

Mangaluru: Lamp lighting ceremony is an auspicious occasion in every nurse's life, held in reverence of Florence Nightingale, the lady with the lamp. The lamp lighting ceremony for the second year BSc students was organized at Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences, here.

Students and their parents, faculty and other students were present on the occasion.

Prof Christeena Saju Varkey, principal, Dr M V Shetty College of Nursing was the chief guest for the programme. She expressed to the students the need for patient care with importance of three Hs namely the head, heart and hand. A nurse is a role model for the patient and we should deem it an honour to be one.

Prof Renilda Shanthi Lobo, principal, Kanachur College of Nursing Sciences, welcomed the gathering and led the novice nurses into reading the oath. David Rakesh D'Souza, assistant professor, spoke on the significance of lamp lighting ceremony and lrine D'Souza, associate professor introduced the chief guest.

The event was presided over by Hajiuk Monu, chairman, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences. He reiterated the role and responsibilities of a nurse in patient care. Dr Virupaksha H S, dean KIMS, Dr Devi Prasad, medical superintendent, KHRC and Dr Rohan Monis, chief administrative Officer, KHRC were present on the occasion.

Juliana Lobo, associate professor was master Of ceremony and Violet D'Souza, assistant lecturer delivered the vote of thanks.
