Khader assures of Abbakka Bhavan

Mangaluru: State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader inaugurated two-day long Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav -2017 at Asaigoli Kendra Maidan on February 4, Saturday under the aegis of the Department of Kannada and Culture and Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav Samithi.

Speaking on the occasion, he said," Queen Abbakka, who fought for the people during the Portuguese invasion is an inspiration to everyone for her valour and courage. Abbakka Utsav would be organised in the coming years on a large scale like the Hampi and Sangolli Rayanna Utsav. The government would come forward to construct a Abbakka Bhavan at a cost of Rs 8 crores."

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha inaugurated the cultural event while MUDA Chairman Suresh Ballal inaugurated different seminars.

Mangaluru Tahsildar Mahadevappa, Sports Officer Pradeep D’Souza, Konaje GP Chief Shaukat Ali, Ullal Block Congress President Santosh Kumar Shetty, Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino, Abbakka Utsav Committee’s Working President Dinaker Ullal, former MLA K Jayaram Shetty and others were present.
