Lecturer files complaint against fake Facebook profile

Udupi: A police complaint has been registered on Sunday September 4 for a fake Facebook account opened by lecturer at Udupi police station.

Kutpadi Kshetra Dharmastala Ayurveda College lecturer, Dr Mamatha K V, had delivered a speech at a programme held at G M Vidyaniketan School. Somebody allegedly misappropriated a picture of hers, taken at the time, and posted it on the Vidyaniketan School Facebook account.

An account by the name of Mamatha Kumari was also reported to have been created on July 30. Besides, friend requests had been sent from the new account to about 450 of her friends, old students and those treated successfully by her, having sourced them from her real account.

The police complaint has been registered at the Udupi town police station.
