Kundapur: The carcass of a leopard was found on the road at Kakkunje Cross near Halady on Friday October 7 morning. It was hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle the previous night.

After the locals alerted the forest officials stationed at Shankarnarayana, they came to the spot and took the body of the animal into possession.

People living in and around Halady village located at the foot of the Western Ghat have been sighting leopards frequently. At night, domestic animals like cows, calves and dogs are being attacked and killed. The people have again requested the forest department to take proper action.
