Mangaluru: All bars and liquor shops will remain closed in Dakshina Kannada district for a period of 48 hours beginning on February 24 to February 25 as per the orders of the DK Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Dr K G Jagadeesha.

The move has come in the wake of the Communal Harmony Rally organised at Nehru Maidan here on February 25 and the protest rally to be held by the Sangh Parivar on February 24 opposing the participation of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the rally.

Meanwhile, the Parivar organisations have also called for a hartal on February 25, the day of the rally.
