Sullia: Lord Subrahmanya temple in Kukke Subrahmanya clocked a revenue of Rs 89.65 crore for financial year 2016-17. President of the temple managing committee, Nityananda Mundody, informed that this temple with highest revenue in Karnataka, received about six lac rupees in the form of demonetised currency notes in its donation boxes besides Rs 3.12 lac in the form of US dollars and currencies of Gulf countries.

The major income of the temple comes in the form of devotees meeting religious vows, offering placed in donation boxes, interest on investments, rent on choultries and buildings and agriculture. The income of the temple previous year stood at Rs 88.83 crore. Income of the temple this year through agriculture is Rs 2.12 crore, rent Rs 44 lac, offerings Rs 1.68 crore, donation boxes Rs 17.65 crore, religious vows Rs 38.24 crore and interest Rs 19.20 crore. Cleanliness has been given added attention and modern machinery is used for solid waste management. The temple has also provided Rs 14.50 crore for underground drainage and water supply scheme.
