Lucky escape for couple, child after iron rods pierce through window

Bantwal: In a miraculous escape, a couple from Bengaluru who were travelling in a Swift car along with their were left unhurt when the steel rods which were being transported in a Maruti Omni van pierced through the rear window of the car and came out through the front window shield when its driver applied brakes suddenly on Tuesday evening at Dasakody in Soorikumeru.

The driver applied brakes suddenly in a bid to avoid a pothole. Simultaneously, even the driver of the van carrying the rods had applied brakes. Luckily, the couple and the child escaped by a hair’s breadth as the rods just passed a few cms above the heads of the woman and her child. The child was sitting on the back seat.

The accident disrupted traffic on the route for some time.
