M A Gafoor is chairman of Minorities Development Corporation

Udupi: Veteran Congress leader and social worker, M A Gafoor, has been given an important responsibility in the form of chairmanship of Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation.


Gafoor was district president of Congress committee for 12 years, and got elected thrice as zilla panchayat member. He had served as secretary of district youth Congress and national youth Congress units. Currently, he is secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in charge of party affairs in Shivamogga district.

Gafoor's name was in the reckoning till final stages for being given legislative council seat. He was also tipped as prospective candidate for Kaup legislative assembly constituency.

Gafoor expressed his happiness for becoming chairman and said he will give justice in his new role.
