MLA Bava says sum of Rs 218 crore to be utilised to meterise drinking water supply system

Mangaluru: Mangaluru North MLA BA Moidin Bava has said that a sum of Rs 218 crores and Rs 195 crores would be respectively sanctioned for drinking water and UGD facility in MCC limits by revising the earlier grant of Rs 160 crores and Rs 120 crores respectively.

Speaking to reporters hon December 3, Saturday, he said the sum of Rs 218 crore would be utilised to meterise drinking water supply system in all wards, towards pipeline repair and other works. The sum allotted towards UGD would be utilised for effective under ground drainage system and also to undertake survey in places where the system has not been provided.

On the second vented dam project at Thumbay, he said of the 41 acre land that would be submerged when the dam water level goes up to five meters, 18 acres was private land. The Deputy Commissioner has already made an appeal to the Secretary of Urban Development Department to sanction Rs 10 crores towards provision of compensation, he informed.
