MRPL wins Srishti Good Green Governance Award

Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) won the prestigious Srishti Good Green Governance Award in the Manufacturing Sector - Non Metallurgical category. The award was given in a glittering function organized by Srishti Publications at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Srishti Green Cube Awards are annual awards for good green governance practised by the company and going extra mile beyond the required statutory compliance.

This award recognises MRPL’s commitment towards the society by virtue of adopting energy-efficient practices, eco-friendly initiatives in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants. MRPL’s green initiatives like maximizing recycle of treated refinery effluent water, using treated Mangaluru city sewage water, usage of electric vehicles inside the refinery, harnessing solar power through roof top installations, extensive green belt development, increasing awareness of afforestation through public engagement programmes like promoting usage of seed balls which demonstrated MRPL’s commitment beyond statutory compliance and helped MRPL in winning this coveted accolade among Indian companies.

Sanjay Varma, group general manager (HSE & ISO) and Srinivas R, chief manager (HSE) received the trophy from Murlidhar C Bhandare (former governor, Orissa) at New Delhi.
