Man held for possession of black pelt

Mangaluru: Police found a person to be in possession of a black buck pelt on Saturday January 14. He was arrested from KSRTC bus stand at Bejai.

The accused has been identified as Devappa Magadi (43) from Mulgund in Gadag district. He had brought the pelt in a government bus from Hubballi. The police personnel said that the pelt would be tested through forensic science laboratory, after which its market value would be assessed.

This incident comes close in the heels of the recent case about an attempt to sell deer skin in the city.
