Mangaluru: Ahmed Basheer succumbs to injuries

Mangaluru, (DHNS): Akash Bhavan resident Ahmed Basheer who had been attacked last Wednesday in Mangaluru at the Kottara Chowk, succumbed to injuries at the M J Hospital on Sunday morning.

According to the police, four men had attacked Basheer with swords to avenge BJP activist Deepak Rao's murder on January 3, at Katipalla. A severely injured Basheer was admitted to hospital.

The assailants who attacked Basheer Padeel residents Dhanush and Kishan; Srijith of Kasaragod district, Kerala, and Sandesh Kotyan. All four were arrested on Saturday.

Basheer underwent several surgeries. He was in the ICU for most of last week. His family sources confirmed that he breathed his last at about 8.05 am today.
