Manipal hotelier booked for allegedly abusing police officer

Udupi: A complaint has been booked in Manipal police station against a hotelier on charges of hindering a police officer from doing her duty.

A hotelier from Eshwarnagar in Manipal is the person booked. The complainant is assistant sub inspector Shobha attached to the Manipal police station.

Officer Shobha was on duty at around 1 am of May 22 night. She spotted a group of 6 persons smoking cigarettes. The persons were warned about the offence and were also fined. When the officer was giving them the receipt for the fine, the hotelier talked rudely with her.

As per the complaint, he has allegedly used abusive words against her. He also said that he was highly influential and nothing a police officer like her could do to him. The hotelier has been booked now.
