Mangaluru: Outgoing mayor Kavita Sanil thanked the citizens of Mangaluru for supporting her during her one-year tenure and also listed out the development works that were initiated under her administration.

Addressing a press meet on Wednesday, Kavita Sanil said that she received tremendous support from deputy mayor Rajaneesh and former mayor Shashidhar Hegde.

"The people of the city irrespective of my political affiliation stood by me in carrying out various developmental works and during some tough moments. I am grateful to them. With their blessings I have completed my tenure successfully. I assure them that I will not stop my social service. At the time of taking charge as mayor, I promised to do my best to solve the issue of water scarcity. I am happy to say that I succeeded in enabling storage of 6 meters of water in the Thumbe dam.

I tried to stop illegal massage parlours and skill game centers in the city. Despite threat calls from Mumbai and Dubai, I tried my best to save our youngsters from such unwanted things. With the introduction of the phone-in programme we created a platform for the public to interact directly with the corporation officials about their issues. Many have benefited from this programme," she added.
