Mangaluru: A live phone-in programme aimed at solving water problems and other civic grievances will be conducted by Mayor Kavitha Sanil and MCC Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer every month from May 23. The programme will be held from 10 am to 11 am. Mayor Kavitha Sanil said the general public can call 0824-2220301 or 0824-220318 to air their grievances. She also stated that MCC would make every possible effort to solve the grievances aired during the phone-in programme.

She informed that an emergency cell of 10 members will be formed to tackle emergency situations like cyclone. She said the departments concerned have been asked to set up three alert towers to warn the people of any impending danger.

On the pollution of water near Malavoor dam, she said MCC was unnecessarily being blamed for release of sewage water into the river. She also stated that the locals too have not blamed MCC and pointed out that a pipeline from the SEZ area in Kenjar was polluting the water.
