Udupi: The members of Franciscan Secular Tertiary Order (Third Order) celebrated the feast of their founder and patron St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday, 2nd October, 2016.
The celebration began with thanksgiving mass by the main celebrant Rev Dr. Prakash Castelino Assistant parish priest and Campus Director of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur along with Rev Fr. Herald Mathias Superior of Fr. Agnel Minor Seminary of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur.
In his homily, Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino said that it is due to the strong faith with God, Mother Mary as Mother of God. Likewise St. Francis of Assisi had devoted faith in Jesus Christ. The patron Saint of Tertiary Order was a man of prayer, penance and peace.
The entire Holy mass was animated by the members of the Tertiary Order of Milagres Cathedral unit with huge offertory. On behalf of the Vicar, priests and faithful of the parish conveyed the greetings on the occasion.
Eight new members of the Order took oath before the alter which was conducted the chief priest Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino witnessed by all faithful and inducted the members of St. Francis Assissi Third Order of Milagres Cathedral. The Holy Bible, Tertiary hand book and others handed over to the new members by its President Jacintha Lewis and assisted by Eugene Rebello.
After the mass, the brief get together of Tertiary members was held at Parish Priest’s meeting Hall which was presided over by Rev Fr. Rollwin Aranha Assit. Parish priest, Rev Fr. Herald Mathias, Walter Cyril Pinto Vice President and Hilda Rodrigues Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council and nuns were present.
Jacintha Lewis welcomed the gathered. Juliet D’ Silva placed the annual report in brief. Eugene Rebello compered the programme. Clotilda Rebello proposed vote of thanks. Refreshment was served to all the participants.
