Milagres Cathedral celebrates Vespers with devotion

Udupi : Milagres Cathedral , Kallianpur, near here celebrated Vespers (Besp) on Tuesday, 18th January 2022 with devotion. The feast of Our Lady of Miracles will be held on Wednesday January 19, 2022.

The Vespers evening began with evening prayers, Holy Rosary led by Rosy Baretto, followed by blessing of beautifully decorated ‘Cheryl” by the main celebrant of Vespers Rev Fr. Cyril Lobo Assistant parish priest of St Lawrence Church Moodubelle.

The evening Vespers’ prayer led by Rev Fr. Cyril Lobo along with a large number of priests including Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Chancellor of Udupi diocese and former Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Very Rev Fr. Joswey Fernandes Dean of Karkala Deanery, Very Rev Fr. Charles Menezes Dean of Udupi Deanery, Very Rev Fr. Stany Tauro Dean of Kundapur Deanery, Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza former Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr. Basil Vaz former Asst. parish priest of Milagres, parishioner priests of Milagres, deanery priests and other deanery priests and religious priests were present.

In his beautiful homily, Fr. Cyril Lobo pointed out the obedience of Mother Mary and through Mother Mary we will obey God almighty. He said that Mother Mary was chosen not only as a virgin but also she was chosen by God due to her humbleness. You will never be wrong when you obey the almighty God our father. You will never have difficulty obedient to God. Mother Mary has a role model to obey God.

The Adoration prayers led by Fr. Cyril Lobo was so wonderfully held that the faithful gathered, got a chance to be near Jesus through Holy Sacrament.

The Vesper prayer concluded with gratitude words from Cathedral Rector Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca. Vesper evening this year was held in a low- key manner due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions by the government. There were no stalls and shops allowed inside the Cathedral campus except ICYM stalls of the parish. The faithful people gathered in large numbers but not like pre-Covid time. The people took precautions to avoid the pandemic.
