Mangaluru: The International women’s day was celebrated in Mount Carmel Central School. We see around us the women leading the change by being house wives to ‘India Powered by its women’. The students of class IV, a total of 160 performed on stage giving a message that women are educated today to be empowered.

The programme was dedicated to all women leading in various fields around the globe. It started with a prayer, a welcome dance, welcoming the guest, a song and a skit showing two families, one showing the role of empowered women and the other still suffering under the male dominated society. There were thrilling dances danced to the melodious tunes highlighting ‘Women Empowerment’.

Sr Melissa, the principal of the school, the chief guest of the day, rendered a beautiful message saying that every person, be it boy or girl, man or woman, must have deferential respect to a girl or a woman irrespective of age or place. The valiant woman Venerable Mother Veronica, the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel was fondly remembered for her great contribution for the education of women.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks. The school song which is dedicated to Mother Mary, patroness, who is the inspiration to all women in their role as educators, was sung with great devotion.
