NMPT selected as cleanest port in country

Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port Trust has been ranked in No.1 position among 12 Major ports of the country by independent consultants – Quality Council of India - appointed by Ministry of Shipping, for up keeping the port and its surroundings clean and green under Swachh Bharat Mission.

New Mangalore Port Trust under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India has been carrying out various Programmes under Swachh Bharath Abhiyan. Ministry of Shipping had stipulated 37 points under Swachh Bharath Mission to all the Major Ports for implementation for the year 2017-18. NMPT has achieved out standing performance under the various categories including Cleaning the operational areas, Cleaning and repair of Sheds, Office buildings, cleaning of residential areas etc. On evaluating excellence in the stipulated points, Quality Council of India, appointed by Ministry of Shipping, has ranked New Mangalore Port Trust as No.1 Port in Swachh Bharath Mission 2017-18.

The significance of this award is that NMPT could get such a prestigious award inspite of handling all types of cargo like coal, iron ore etc.
