NSS unit of Milagres College holds special camp

Mangaluru: As a part of annual NSS camp, NSS unit of Milagres College began its seven day NSS special camp on November 8 at St Anne Church, Kelarai.

Fr Jochim Fernandes, parish priest of St Anne Church inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. Fr Michael L Santhumayor, principal, Milagres Degree College was guest of honour, Fr Maxim DSouza, vice-principal, Milagres High School, Sr Reeta D’Souza, superior, Fathima Convent, Kelarai, Herald Monteiro, vice-president, St Anne Church, Loucy Rodrigues, secretary, St Anne Church, Santhosh D’Costa and Sharel D’Souza, members, gram panchayat, Neermarga were present on the occasion.

Inaugurating the camp Fr Jochim Fernandes stressed on the significance of NSS and its service to the nation and he also encouraged students to work enthusiastically which would showcase their talents at the same time. Speaking on the occasion, Fr Michael Santhumayor explained the role and responsibilities of NSS volunteers. Fr Maxim DSouza, Santhosh and Sharel DSouza too wished the students on the occasion.

The inaugural function was followed by activities and ‘Shramadhan’ after which students were asked to showcase their talents. Nikhil Martis, NSS programme officer instructed students their responsibilities and work during the camp. Around sixty student volunteers along with other staff were present on the occasion.
