Ocean of people celebrated Sri Krishna Leelotsava "Vittal Pindi" in Udupi

Udupi: The magnificent spiritual gala “Sri Krishna Leelotsava” also known popularly as “Vittal Pindi” was celebrated on Sri Krishna Janmashtami at Sri Krishna Mutt which ocean of people gathered on Friday, 26th August, 2016.

Sri Krishna Leelotsava comprises of the events such as breaking milk pots, signifying childhood stories of Lord Krishna. Rituals were held on the premises of Sri Krishna Mutt with magnificent religious fervor and devotion. Prior to the programmes devotees gathered large crowds around the Car Street and Rajangana which participated huge annasantharpane. Paryaya Pejawar Swamiji all the time visited the Rajangana during the time of annasantharpane and participated to distribute the meal to the devotees.

Exactly 3.30 pm the clay idol of Balakrishna was mounted on the golden chariot and was brought in an elaborate and grand procession which, led by ‘huli vesha’ tiger dance and other various cultural tableaux. Pejawar Swamiji’s, Shiroor Swamiji and other Swamiji’s gave away fruits, coconuts, fruits, laddoos and coins at the huge crowd assembled at Car Street to witness the magnificent event.

Several folk and fancy troupes added color to the huge procession. Compared to previous year’s this year Police had made elaborate security arrangements in the city for the smooth conduct of the event.

The three day celebration wounded up with the immersion of the clay idol of Lord Krishna in the Madhawa Sarovar by Pejawar Mutt Shri Veshwesha Theertha Swamiji and Sri Vishwa Prasanna Swamiji after taking it in a magnificent procession around Car Street in the golden chariot.
