Udupi: Palimar Mutt performed ‘Kattige Muhurta’ on Sunday. Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji of Palimar Math will be ascending the ‘Paryaya Peetha’, at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Mutt on January 18 next year. It will be his second Paryaya.

A procession of devotees carried firewood from the entrance of the Pejawar Mutt to the place marked for the construction of the ‘Kattige Ratha’ near the Madhwa Sarovara pond. This piled firewood would be utilised by the Paryaya mutt during their two year Paryaya period which comes once in two years among the seers of Asta Mutt on rotation.

The preparatory process of main Paryaya festival will be culminated with the fourth and final leg preparation of ‘Bhattha Muhurtha’ (storing of paddy) which will be held during December this year.
