Mangaluru: The officers of customs at Mangaluru International Airport arrested a passenger, who was trying to smuggle gold. The accused passenger has been identified as Ahmed Tahir, a native of Kasargod.
Tahir arrived from Dubai on Sunday by Air India flight IX 814. The customs officials found 804 grams of gold worth Rs 24 lac concealed under the sole of Tahir's sandals. The customs officials intercepted the passenger out of suspicion.
He arrived from Dubai by morning flight and during checking, the scanner detected the gold. The officials found the gold concealed in his footwear.
