Peace meeting held in Kundapur to avert communal disharmony

Kundapur: A peace meeting was held in Kundapur police station in view of the upcoming Kodi Habba and Eid Milad celebrations. District SP Dr Sanjeev M Patil who chaired the meeting asked Muslims to help celebrate Hindu festivals, Hindus to help celebrate Muslim feasts and non-Catholic communities to help in celebrating Christmas.

"Communal harmony needs to be maintained. It will send an excellent message to children also. Let peace and harmony start from Kundapur. People in Kundapur are responding well for the last four weeks. Police department will extend full cooperation to the festivities. There should be no bike rallies held. Hold processions during festivals if you wish to, but avoid bike rallies. You should cooperate in this matter. As bike rallies cause traffic problems and inconvenience people, do not hold them," he said.

Leaders of Koteshwar Kotilingeshwar Temple explained about the Kodi festival. Heads of mosques in Kodi, Kandlur, Hangalur, Moodu Gopadi and Hemmadi explained the way Eid Milad would be celebrated.
