Pejawar Swami undergoes surgical procedure for hernia

Published On : 20 Aug 2017   |  Reported By : Canaranews network

Udupi: 87-year-old Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt underwent surgical procedure for hernia at the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal on Sunday. Pejawar Swamiji left for the hernia operation after completing the Maha Pooja at the Sri Krishna Math at around 10 am on Sunday.

During Vishwesha Tirtha’s absence, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt, will conduct the poojas at the Sri Krishna Mutt. Though tradition bars the Paryaya seer from leaving the Car Street during the two-year Paryaya tenure, this was a special case as it involved the health of the seer.

Vishwesha Tirtha had already visited the Kasturba Hospital for medical checkup on Saturday. He was asked to undergo hernia surgery. This is the fifth time he has become a Paryaya seer. His term will be ending in January 2018.
