Mangaluru, (DHNS): Pejawar Mutt seer Vishweshateertha Swami said on Sunday that the recent controversies between the Kukke Subrahmanya mutt and the temple is the result of government’s intervention.

Speaking to reporters, the seer said Kukke Subrahmanya Mutt seer Vidyaprasannateertha Swami’s decision to go on hunger strike was unfortunate and had deeply pained the seers of the Ashta mutts. “The seers are worried and are trying their best for negotiation to find a solution to the problem. The government should not interfere and the temples should function independently. There is a need for cooperation between the temple and mutt. The Subrahmanya Mutt seer is ready for negotiation. I will visit the mutt and temple on October 16 and will try to sort out the differences.” The seer said, “It is sad that water connection to the mutt is cut off. The Subrahmanya Mutt seer is unnecessarily irritation.”

“The mutt and temple should cooperate with each other. The temple administrative board should convince the seer to drop his hunger strike,” said the Pejawar seer. Rituals like Ashlesha bali and Sarpa Samskara are performed both at the temple and the mutt for the sake of the devotees. It is the devotees to decide where they want the rituals to be performed. To a query on the appointment of a seer to Shiroor Mutt, the Pejawar seer said the process was underway and the Sode Vadiraj Mutt seer was searching for a suitable individual who can become the pontiff. Reacting to the seer's fast, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters, “The government does not wish that any seer or member of the public engages in protest and fasting. I am appealing to the seer to withdraw his fast during the Navaratri festivities. All issues can be sorted out through a dialogue.”
