Mangaluru: Well-known photojournalist of Mangaluru, Ahmed Anwar is no more. He breathed his last at his residence at Balmatta on December 11, Sunday. He was 55 years of age and was suffering from cancer.
Anwar’s keen interest in photography that made him shift to the photojournalism field from the garment industry. Apart from being an outstanding photographer he was also a short story writer and poet. His anthology of poems ’Payaniga Padyagalu’ was supposed to be released on December 23.
He has won the Attimabbe Literary Award for his literary work ’Bevu Bella’, apart from the Muslim Literary Award of Muslim Writers’ Association, Sneha Setu Award and Pejawar Sadashiv Rao Memorial Award.
His photographs in monochrome, were displayed in an exhibition titled ’Street Life’ held in Mangaluru last year.
