Police arrest kidnap accused after 36 years

Bantwal: Police have successfully managed to at last apprehend an accused person who had been absconding for the last 36 years. The 70-year old accused Antony Rodrigues of Maddadka village in Belthangady taluk was traced to Loretto Padavu in Bantwal Taluk.

He was arrested and subsequently produced in court. Antony Rodrigues was wanted in Belthangady Police Station for a case of abduction filed in 1982. He had failed to appear in court and had been absconding since then.

The accused had tried to abduct Ibrahim, a head constable attached to Belthangady Police Station on 7th June 1982 at about 10.15 p.m. He had tried to force Ibrahim into an auto rickshaw near Belthangady Bus Stand.
